About Our Graduate Intern

Alaina Buchicchio
Graduate Intern
Alaina Buchicchio is a current graduate student at Columbia International University, where she is pursuing her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She prioritizes a collaborative and compassionate approach to counseling that values clients’ input in treatment decisions and empowers them to achieve their goals. She utilizes various psychotherapeutic techniques supported by empirical research and evidence to ensure clients are receiving quality care. Alaina welcomes the opportunity to work with adolescents, adults, and couples with a variety of mental health issues, and she desires to create a safe, accepting space for individuals to express themselves. Her topics of interest include anxiety, depression, women's issues, trauma, grief, and relationship concerns.
Before pursuing her career in counseling, Alaina received her BS in Psychology with a minor in Theatre. Shortly after, she worked as the Student Services Administrative Coordinator for the South Carolina Honors College where she managed office operations, addressed the needs of parents and students, and ensured students met the requirements for graduating with Honors distinction. Additionally, Alaina has volunteered with a variety of nonprofit organizations where she worked on initiatives such as holding free dance classes for children with disabilities, advocating for pregnant women from low-income backgrounds, organizing community baby showers, and providing homeless individuals with essential resources.
In her free time, she loves exploring new walking trails, listening to music, reading fantasy novels, seeing live performances, and spending time with friends and family. Alaina’s personal life and experience working with people from diverse backgrounds has inspired her to support the holistic well-being of individuals in a counseling setting.
