Graduate Intern
Dr. Charles M. Houston is a dedicated counseling intern currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Originally from Manning, SC, and raised in Sumter, SC, he has established his family in Summerville, SC. With a Master of Divinity focusing on Marriage and Family and a Doctor of Ministry specializing in counseling, Dr. Houston combines his impressive academic background with a wealth of practical experience. He is an 8-year veteran of the United States Air Force and has proudly served as a firefighter in Sumter County for 6 years. With over 25 years of ministerial experience—16 of which he spent as a Lead Pastor (the last 10 years in the Ridgeville area) — he brings a unique perspective to the counseling field. Currently, he is enhancing his expertise with certifications in Trauma Counseling, Personality Disorders, and ADHD.
Dr. Houston is fortunate to have his wonderful wife, Betsy, by his side for 21 years, and together they have three remarkable children: Isaac, 16; Malachi (deceased); and Izzy, 9. He passionately supports his kids in their marching band and gymnastics competitions and enjoys traveling to the mountains, hunting, and fishing in his free time.
His expertise encompasses a broad range of areas, including couples counseling, family therapy, financial counseling, grief support, individual therapy, marriage counseling, assistance for military veterans, and trauma counseling. Dr. Houston is committed to making a lasting positive impact on the lives of those he serves.
